Neverwinter - Getting Started - Getting the Game Empty
PostSubject: Neverwinter - Getting Started - Getting the Game   Neverwinter - Getting Started - Getting the Game EmptySun Jul 28, 2013 5:56 pm

Neverwinter - Getting Started - Getting the Game C-Fraps-Screenshots-GameClient-2013-02-06-19-31-08-10-620x372
A level 16 Trickster Rogue in a party w/ other players in a boss battle. Every player attacks with the right and left clicks of the mouse, moves with WASD, does special attacks (varies by class) with QER, does a final smash/epic attack with 1 or 2, and dodges with the D key being hit twice.

1. Does your computer (laptop/desktop/notebook) meet the requirements?

Minimum System Requirements for Play:

OS:  Windows® XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 Processor:  Dual-core 2.0GHz CPU or better Memory:  1GB RAM Video:  Shader Model 2.0 or higher, GeForce 6800 or ATI Radeon X850 performance, 128MB+ video ram
Sound:  DirectX 9.0c compatible sound chip or onboard audio capability with the latest sound drivers
Broadband Internet Connection Required

Recommended System Requirements:

OS:  Windows® XP SP3, Windows Vista SP 2, Windows® 7 or Windows 8
Processor:  Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz CPU equivalent or better Memory:  2GB RAM or more
Video:  GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD 2900GT performance or better, 512MB+ video ram
Sound:  DirectX 9.0c compatible sound chip or onboard audio capability with the latest sound drivers

Broadband Internet Connection Required

- To view your computer's techs and specs, go to your Control Panel (Windows) or 'About this Mac' on your menu bar (for Apple).

2. Downloading the game

Go to http://nw.perfectworld.com/download and click on "Install now". Your antivirus software may interrupt the download process..if it does, "allow access" when the option comes up.

It may take longer to download than you expect...this is because of the number of patches that your computer downloads for the game - the longer you wait to download, the more patches it will download for you alongside the game itself (it patches about once a week).

3. Run the game

4. Log in with your PerfectWorld account or create a new PerfectWorld account.

6. For new accounts, create a handle.

Your handle is like your account name. It will show as

yourcharactername@handle

You need the charactername@handle to add someone to your friend's list if you are not on the same map. If they are on the same map, hit F to interact and add them as a friend.

7. Create your first character.

Neverwinter is an immersive gameplay experience. It is not intended that you get on the game for five minutes and get off - to play, leave at least an hour of time to comfortably play. Use headphones for music/sound instead of speaker - part of the immersive gameplay experience is the the thematic music and the sound effects.

Know that when you create a character, you build your character on your own likeness and choosing. There is no "ideal" or "perfect" character (or character build)  because you will personalize your character even further as you level up using the in-game feature called Paragon. It will make more sense when you reach level 5 and get to appoint one point of your Paragon method to any of the unlocked features.

8. Level up to Level 15

You can join a guild at any time you are in-game, but the most unlocks you will get with a character is when your character reaches level 11, when it will be able to invocate, and buy a mount. To join Apoc, to create the guild period, needs 5 players Level 15.

9. Do some history

Get a backdrop on gameplay and a better understanding of how things work by visiting the game's Wiki-how, a simple intro to Neverwinter.

Go to http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Neverwinter_Wiki and take a look around!
